Indy…

I have been going to the dealer show since it was hosted in Cincinnati and have always enjoyed it. We usually manage to find something new and something fun to do, but the best part is usually seeing friends and contemporaries that often I only see once in a year. This year was a bit different in one regard.
This year we went to ‘cool’ and his name is Roland Sands.
Saturday night Roland threw a party for maybe fifty people. Whether you know me or not I’ll tell you that I am not and never have been star struck. In fact (if name dropping were my thing) I could tell you there where several celebrities there including one known as ‘the King’. Roland I found to be most amazing. I knew he had won a biker build off, and I knew that he had won a AMA Pro 250 GP Championship, but what I didn’t know is that he is still a very young. Being the tech guy, I tend to just pay attention to the stats, facts and results. Faces and personalities historically aren’t that important to me. The striking thing with Roland was that in my mind based on the association with Sorenson (no offense Chuck), maybe a little cross referencing in my brain with Rolands’ father, and the mystic of RSD’s bikes I had conjured up that he had to be, maybe fifty by now. In fact he is a very collected, humble, yet confident and charming thirty two year old. An absolutely poised and very cool guy. So a toast to the host; thanks for having us and carry on, I wouldn’t change a thing.
On a more serious note there were some new products that are definitely worth looking into.
Ohlins TTX are as beautiful as they are amazingly adjustable. We had the time to talk to some of the AMA boys who have done quite a bit of testing by know and they all said that the TTX technology has proven to work incredibly well. We’ll go into the specifics in latter articles but I’ll tell you this for sure: some more notorious skeptics have come around. It’s also worth mentioning that we have them in stock.
A young genius and a slightly more experienced one have joined forces and released a new line of race products under the KR2 banner. They have pipes and racing hard parts that look amazing. They are rolling out through Parts Unlimited, definately worth checking out.
Without making this article as long as the long boring drive to Indy, there are just a few more notable products you should look for in the near future. Some new tire warmers from Woodcraft – Eric has seemingly answered several of the issues that currently hinder that product. Keep an eye on Pit Bull – they have a tie down system coming that as usual reflects the genius and quality of that organization.
Well, crunch time for Daytona. We’ll be there and will dispatch as much information as possible so stay tuned.
