Total Racing Solutions (TRS) is the vision of race junkies and industry professionals
A Michigan Corporation founded in 2006 and headquartered in Brighton, MI. We are organized into Two separate but related divisions.
TRS MultiMedia – a credentialed news organization digging up all the latest racing and industry news as well as posting editorials and technical white papers. We cover MotoGP, World Superbike, AMA Pro, WERA and many miscellaneous racing events.
Team-TRS – TRS’s Race Team, sponsoring motorcycle roadracers, consulting and provideing contract personnel to professional racing teams. Resent results – Won the Daytona 200 Team Challenge, several WERA 600 and 750 Superstock Championships with Eddie Kraft, Nathan Dressman, Shawn Conrad, Kevin Callaway etc.; Safety First Racing – Bobby Fong finished 10th in the AMA Pro Formula Xtreem championship; WERA National Endurance wins with ARNCHU Racing, it goes on and on…. Some results are carried over from Brighton Superbike, same team, new name.
There’s more on those two later, first the mission and some history. The premise that there is a need for our services is founded in the knowledge that for motorcycle racers in this country there are very few dedicated racing professionals available. There is an undeniable reality in this statement which is that in the US, motorcycle racing is the lowest paying segment of all the motorsport engineering disciplines. Where (especially in the case of our investors) it may not be the most profitable venture, it is our passion. Hence the endeavor.
While there are several dealerships employing hundreds of competent mechanics, these resources aren’t set up for the needs of racers. Race bike prep. is a total different set of tools. Part time hobbyists (AKA weekend warriors or your Uncle Joe) are great but there’s a difference between them and someone who earns their living in the sport. The racing business requires constant contact with the sport in order to produce the value and results that this sport demands (god knows you pay enough to do it).
The ‘vision’ comes from a long history in the sport going back to the 1950’s when James’s father raced BSA’s and Moto Guzzi’s. James Bhathena (JAB) has staked everything in pursuit of this passion. In 1987 he completed the FAST Racing School in Shannonville Ontario. He was awarded their ‘most likely to succeed in the sport’ award. He won an RZ 350 cup and rubbed elbows with the likes of Miguel Duhamel and Jacque Ginnett in what was affectionately known as the “Animal Open”. (An aptly named class if you can imagine what it would look like (in 87) to have GSXR 1100’s, ZX10’s, RG500 Gama’s, VFR 1000 Interceptor’s and God only knows what else mixing it up together on a track that’s crazy bumpy and (at the time) about 12 feet wide.) He survived that to win many more races and after moving to the US won an AMA/CCS Middle Weight SuperSport Championship and raced some AMA Pro stuff including the Daytona 200 (by Arai back then).
Some years later when he decided to make racing his career he entered the Motorcycle curriculum at MMI. He graduated the program (and Honda School) in eleven months on the Dean’s list. After returning to Michigan he opened Brighton Superbike and built it into a highly successful and profitable race shop. Under the Brighton Superbike (BSBK) – (BSBK) banner he ran race teams in AMA Pro with riders like Shawn Conrad, Dave Duprey and Nathan Dressman at the same time building countless championship winning bikes for WERA and CCS riders. He (BSBK) finally won the Daytona 200 (the team challenge at least) in 2001. BSBK built successful drag bikes as well, most notably a GSXR 1000 that backed up a 8.128 second pass (all motor) at Milian Dragway Park. BSBK -built or -tuned bikes won 22 championships in 7 years. Ultimately the success of BSBK pushed him further into the office and farther away from the track. James sold BSBK to Recreational Leisure Corp. where it continued to service riders until the unfortunate reversal of fortune saw Recreational Leisure go out of business in 2008. TRS continued a relationship with WERA rider Eddie Kraft, built a motor, shock, forks and Dyno tuned a Yamaha R6 and they won the 600 and 750 SuperSport Championship in 2007.
TRS MultiMedia is the fastest growing division and potentially the most important. In an effort to reach as many people as possible we’re moving more and more resources towards the news and publishing company. The thinking here is knowledge is power. While we can’t possibly serve all the people who regularly visit this website, by making our Multimedia division more viable we will be able to let more and more of the coveted trade secrets we now leverage through TEAM-TRS available to everyone. We also provide the service of gathering pertinent and relevant industry and racing news for the whole community. Rachele Bhathena (The Amazing Rachele) serves as the Editor in Chief. She has the unique qualifications of having to listen to James backed up by a BS in English from Central Michigan University. If you have a press release or would like us to cover your event, team, or rider, please email us at editor@trsmultimedia.com. Any/all other media inquiries can be sent through the contact us page.
Team-TRS is an Öhlins Suspension Center. It takes care of all support, sponsorship and contingency. We sponsor riders at several different levels. Some ride Team-TRS bikes and others receive products or discounts. We try to spread it around as much and as fairly as possible. If you’re interested in support the first thing to do is to fill out the racer support on this site. We offer incentives to Team-TRS customers in both WERA and CCS. For details on our current programs please refer to the incentives page.
Thanks for coming, stay metal!
